Introducing OENC
What is OENC?
Open Education North Carolina (OENC) is an NC LIVE initiative that aims to reduce the cost of higher education for North Carolina students by providing free, open textbooks for the most frequently taught courses across NC’s 2- and 4-year colleges and universities.
We're partnering with the UNC System, NC Independent Colleges & Universities, and NC Community Colleges to offer open education workshops across the state and to provide adoption grants to faculty and instructors who choose to adopt an open textbook.
OENC Resources
The OENC Hub on OER Commons contains OER aimed at the 22 selected courses in North Carolina colleges and universities. Use the following links to browse resources selected for OENC's targeted courses.
- OENC Curated CollectionsThese collections allow you to browse the OENC sources by discipline: STEM, Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business.
- OENC GroupsThe OENC Hub contains groups where instructors can find and share ancillary materials such as slides, homework, or other related resources. Groups are divided into STEM, Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business.
OENC Grants
OENC awards grants to instructors who switch from commercial textbooks to OER. To find more information about the grant application, visit the NC Live website.
